The Indian River County Main Library

http://www.irclibrary.org/

The Indian River County Main Library has all of the holdings of the society. In 1983, the society began their collection through a temporary agreement with the now defunct private library. In 1991, when the new library was built and was taken over by the County, a room with over 1000 square feet was designated for the Florida History & Genealogy Department. We now have over 4000 square feet since the remodeling of 2002. The society and the library work together to help build the collection by providing an annual budget and supporting staff.

Please visit the library Web site at this Library Link (or click the picture) for more information about the library, its history, hours of operation, and the wealth of information one can find in the Julian W. Lowenstein Archive Center & Genealogy Department. Take special note of the Pathfinders, topical guides to assist you on your path of discovery.

Here are some helpful library links:

Be sure to check out all the helpful information including the pathfinders, Heritage Quest access from home (requires library card), and some of the unique holdings such as Index to The American annual monitor ... or, Obituary of the members of the Society of Friends in America Vol. 1-6 1857-1862 and Index to Decisions of the Department of the Interior: in cases of the United States granting and governing pensions.
